A "nurselog" ... a dead fallen tree, which supports huge spruces on its remains. A metaphor for life?

A "nurselog" ... a dead fallen tree, which supports huge spruces on its remains. A metaphor for life?

A baker's dozen #NotesToSelf as a human, a writer, and an artist

February 18, 2020
  1. You don't have to be busy. You don't need to "deliver" something every day

  2. Lying fallow is productive in a gazillion unnamed ways

  3. Journal. Journal. Journal. You know you'll regret not doing it later. So do it.

  4. You don't have to prove anything. You don't have to have the last word in an argument.

  5. You do need to read/learn/process deeply; never go short on details (it may be where the devil plots; it's also where beauty dances)

  6. Value Intellectual Honesty. Strive for it.

  7. Listen to your instinct, don't shush it.

  8. Pay attention, learn from everything and everyone. Listening & observing are a great teaching tools. No such thing as a wasted moment.

  9. Never fail to be kind and gracious. But ...

  10. Never be afraid to disengage and walk away from toxicity.

  11. The smallest things bring the greatest joy, don't overlook their power.

  12. Gratitude above all. And express it, don't just think it.

  13. If you have a dream, don't be effing lazy - embrace it and work hard.
